Bundles and Add Ons: Raising Your Average Order

KinkCoach · · 4 min read

Finding a new buyer is hard. Selling more to the one already at checkout is easy. Most sellers spend all their energy on the first and none on the second, and their average order stays where it started.

Why bundles work here

Postage is the fixed cost in worn items. One parcel with three items costs barely more to send than one parcel with one item. That gap is your margin. A buyer paying for two pairs of socks and a pair of tights in one parcel gets better value and you keep more, because you posted once. Everyone wins, and nobody had to discount much.

Building a bundle that makes sense

Bundle things that go together in the buyer's head, not things you want rid of. Socks and trainers. Tights and heels. A gym set: leggings, sports bra, gym socks, one session, one parcel. A sleepwear week. The bundle should read as a single idea. A random bag of leftovers reads as clearance and prices like it.

Add ons that cost you nothing

A handwritten note. A worn photograph from the day. A short voice note. A second proof image. These take minutes and add real value because they are personal, which is what the buyer is here for. Price them small, five or ten pounds, and offer them at the point of order rather than after. Personal extras are also what turns a one off sale into a buyer who returns.

Offering without pushing

One sentence, once, at the point of sale. "I can add a worn photo from the day for five if you want one." That is the whole pitch. If they say no, drop it and never raise it again in that order. Repeated offers feel like pressure and pressure loses the sale you already had.

Watch the number

Track your average order value monthly. That single number tells you whether your bundles and add ons work better than any amount of guessing. If it is not moving, your bundle is not a bundle, it is a discount.

Build one proper bundle listing this week from items you already have, price it about fifteen percent under the separate total, and see what it does to your average order.
