Bundles That Sell Better Than Single Items

KinkMarket · · 3 min read

A bundle is not a discount with extra steps. It works when it saves the buyer a decision, and it fails when it is obviously a way of moving things that were not selling on their own.

Group what belongs together

The pieces of one outfit. A worn item and the photographs of it being worn. Two things somebody would have bought in sequence anyway. The test is whether a buyer would have asked for the second item unprompted after the first.

Price it so the saving is visible but small

The point is not to be cheap. It is to make choosing the bundle the obvious move for somebody already halfway there. A modest saving does that. A large one tells the buyer the individual prices were never real.

Do not bundle your slowest items

Attaching something nobody wants to something they do want is visible, and it is the fastest way to make a good listing feel like a clearance. If an item is not moving, the problem is the item, the photographs or the price, and hiding it in a bundle solves none of them.

Say exactly what is in it

List every piece, with the same detail you would give if it were sold alone. A bundle described vaguely reads as a mystery box, and a buyer who expected specifics and got a surprise is a complaint waiting to happen even when everything arrived.

Limit how long it exists

Bundles work better as something assembled for a reason than as permanent shelf furniture. Put one together, let it run, take it down. A shop where the bundles change looks like somebody is tending it, which is most of what makes a shop feel worth buying from.
