Buyer Etiquette: How to Be a Buyer Sellers Want

KinkCoach · · 4 min read

Sellers talk about buyers the way you talk about builders. The good ones get looked after, get replies first, get told when something they would like is coming. The difficult ones get slow replies and eventually get nothing. The difference between the two is smaller than you think.

Read the listing first

Most seller irritation is buyers asking things the listing already answers. Wear time, size, what is included, whether it is available. Read it, then ask about what is genuinely not there. A buyer who has clearly read the listing gets treated as serious immediately.

Be clear about what you want

Sellers are not mind readers and they are not offended by specifics. "I would like these worn for two days including a gym session, and I would like a proof photo" is a great message. Vague hinting wastes both your time. Say the thing, plainly. If it is outside what they offer, they will say so and that is fine.

Do not haggle

These are independent sellers, not a chain with a margin to give. The price includes their time, the item, and the postage. Asking for a discount reads as saying their work is not worth what they asked, and it is the single fastest way to sour a conversation. If it is beyond your budget, buy something cheaper or wait. Sellers respect that far more than a lowball.

Pay through the marketplace

Every time, no exceptions. Off platform payment removes your protection and the seller's record, and any buyer who pushes for it looks like a scammer whether or not they are one. Keep the conversation there too. Sellers who are asked to move to a personal app get suspicious, and rightly so.

Leave the review

It takes thirty seconds and it is worth real money to an independent seller. It is also how the next buyer knows who to trust. If you want the market you buy from to keep existing, this is how you contribute to it, and it feeds directly into how reputation works on both sides.

Be patient about post

A wear takes as long as the wear takes, and then the post takes what the post takes. Chasing on day two of a five day wear does not speed anything up. If the seller gave you a date, hold them to that date and not to your impatience.

On your next order, read the full listing, ask one clear question, pay promptly and leave a review. You will notice the difference in how the next conversation goes.
