Getting Your Shop Ready for a Week Away
Taking a week off is healthy, and buyers understand it. What they do not like is paying for something and hearing nothing for days. Almost every unhappy review written about a seller on holiday comes down to one thing: nobody told the buyer what was happening.
Start a few days before you leave. Look at what is waiting to be sent and get it out while you still can. An order posted early is one less thing to worry about and one less buyer left waiting.
Decide what you will do with new orders. Some sellers pause their shop completely. Others keep selling but make it clear that anything bought will be sent when they return. Either is fine, as long as the buyer knows before they pay rather than after. If you offer custom work, it is usually wise to stop taking new requests a few days early, so nothing is left half finished while you are gone.
Say it plainly where buyers will see it. A short line at the top of your shop and on your busiest listings, with the date you will be back, answers the question before anyone needs to ask.
Set a simple reply for messages if you can, or at least check in once or twice while you are away. A single line saying you are away until Monday and will reply then is far kinder than silence.
When you come back, deal with anything that arrived in order, oldest first, and thank buyers for their patience. Most will remember that you were honest with them far longer than they remember the wait.
