The Listings You Started and Never Finished

Nearly every seller has them. Four or five listings started properly, photographed, half described, and then left. They are not forgotten exactly. You know they are there, and knowing it does a small amount of damage every time you open the app, because an unfinished pile makes the whole shop feel like a chore you are losing.

Why they stall in the same place

Almost always at the description. Photographs are a task with an obvious end and writing is not, so the listing gets as far as the part with no clear finish line and stops. Recognising that the wall is always in the same spot is most of the fix, because it means the problem is a habit rather than a mood.

Finish them badly on purpose

A short plain description that goes live today earns more than the perfect one you have not written. Three honest sentences about what it is, how it was worn and how it will arrive is a complete listing. You can improve it later, and you probably will, but only if it is published, because nobody edits a draft.

Some of them should be deleted

Not everything half started deserves finishing. If the item is gone, the photographs no longer represent it, or you simply do not want to sell it any more, delete it. Clearing three dead drafts is not a loss, it is the removal of three small reminders that you are behind.

Do them in one short sitting

The pile is intimidating as a pile and trivial as a queue. Twenty minutes, oldest first, one paragraph each, publishing as you go. Most sellers who do this are surprised to find the whole backlog was under half an hour of real work and several months of dread.

The finished listing that is slightly worse than you wanted is the one that sells. The perfect one still in your drafts is a photograph you took for nothing.
