How to Price Worn Items as an Independent Seller

KinkCoach · · 4 min read

Pricing is where a lot of worn item sellers either leave money on the table or scare buyers off, and most of it comes down to guessing. You do not need to guess. A few simple ideas will get you to prices that feel fair to buyers and still respect your time.

Price the wear, not just the item

Buyers are not paying for a piece of fabric. They are paying for the wear, the story and the person behind it. That means two identical items can sell for very different amounts depending on how long they were worn, what was done in them, and how much of you comes with them. Sell the experience, and price it accordingly.

Set a floor and hold it

Decide the lowest price you will accept for the time an item actually costs you, and do not go under it, even when a buyer pushes. Discounting once teaches every buyer to ask. A steady price signals that you know your worth, and the right buyers respect that far more than a bargain.

Offer a ladder, not a single price

Give buyers a few options: a standard wear, a longer wear, and add-ons on top. A ladder lets the keenest buyers spend more without you having to negotiate each time, and it makes your standard price look reasonable by comparison.

Keep more of what you charge

Whatever you land on, the cut you hand to a middleman comes straight off the top. Kinkmarket works as a directory that sends buyers to your own shop and takes nothing from the sale it introduces, so the price you set is the price you keep. That is the whole point of pricing well in the first place.
