Reading a Seller's Profile Before You Buy

When a listing catches your eye, it is tempting to go straight to checkout. Spending two minutes on the seller's profile first is worth it. It answers most of the questions buyers end up asking in messages, and it tells you whether this is someone you will enjoy buying from again.

Start with the bio

A seller's bio is where they say what they make, how they like to work and what they will not do. If you are hoping for something custom, the bio usually tells you whether it is welcome before you ask.

Look at the whole shop

Scroll past the item you came for. A shop with a clear style and consistent photos is usually run by someone who takes care over every order. It also shows you what else they offer, which is handy if you want to combine items into one parcel.

Read the shop policy

Many sellers set out how long they take to post, how they package orders and what happens if something goes wrong. Reading it now saves a back and forth later, and it means you know exactly what to expect.

Check the reviews

Earlier buyers are the best guide you have. Look for comments on accuracy, delivery and how the seller answered questions. One mixed review is not a warning sign on its own, but a pattern is worth noticing.

Ask when the profile does not say

If something still is not clear, send a short, polite message. Sellers would much rather answer a question before an order than sort out a misunderstanding after it. A good profile and a friendly reply are a strong sign you have found someone worth coming back to.
