Wear Time, Decoded

Wear time is the detail buyers ask about more than any other, and it is the one most often left vague. Sellers set their own wear times and describe them in their own words, so the same phrase can mean slightly different things in different shops. A little understanding goes a long way.

What the common phrases mean

A day usually means a normal waking day, put on in the morning and taken off at night. Two days means two of those. Slept in means worn overnight, and worn to the gym means a workout happened in it. If a listing says something else, it is worth asking what that looks like in practice.

Already worn or worn to order

Some listings are items the seller has already worn and can post straight away. Others are worn after you order, to the wear time you choose. The second takes longer to arrive, but it lets you ask for exactly what you have in mind.

Ask before you pay

If the listing does not say how long an item is worn, send a short message and ask. Sellers are used to the question and most answer quickly. It is far better than guessing and being disappointed when the parcel arrives.

Longer wear costs more

Extra days of wear are extra work for the seller, so a longer wear time usually carries a higher price. That is normal. If you want several days, expect to pay a little more than the listed price and agree it first.

Be specific about what you want

If an activity matters to you, say so plainly: a run, a long shift, a night out. The clearer your request, the closer the result. Sellers can only wear an item the way you pictured if you have told them what that picture is.

Respect the seller limits

Every seller decides what she is comfortable with, and some wear times or activities will simply not be offered. If the answer is no, thank her and look elsewhere. A polite buyer is remembered, and that counts the next time you want something made to order.
