Why the Same Item Costs Different Amounts

Two sellers list what looks like the same item and the prices are twenty pounds apart. Neither is a mistake, and the cheaper one is not automatically the better buy.

Wear time is most of the price

The item itself is usually the smallest part of what you are paying for. A pair worn for a day and a pair worn for three days are different products with different costs to the seller, and the listing may not spell that out. Read the wear time before you compare anything else. It explains most gaps on its own.

You are paying for the seller as well

Someone who answers within a day, packs carefully and posts when they said they would is worth a premium, and the ones who can do it consistently know it. A slightly higher price from a seller with a track record is usually cheaper than a bargain that arrives late, or does not arrive.

Add ons are priced separately for a reason

Photos, a note, a specific request, longer wear. Each of those is time. When one listing looks dearer, check whether it includes something the other charges extra for, because the total is what matters and the headline number frequently is not the total.

Postage is not part of the item price

A lower item price with higher postage can cost more overall, and a seller offering a bundle usually saves you a second postage charge. Compare what leaves your account, not what is on the listing.

When cheap is a warning

Well below the going rate, vague on wear time, and keen to move the conversation elsewhere is a pattern worth walking away from. Price is one of the few honest signals you get before you buy. Something priced far under everything comparable is telling you something, and it is rarely generosity.

Comparing prices properly takes about a minute and is the difference between feeling ripped off and knowing exactly what you paid for.
